India eVisa is available in five different types. Eligible travellers can choose between:

  • The e-Tourist visa – is a single-entry travel authorization document that perfectly serves all leisure-related visits to India, including making family and friends visits.This eVisa type allows for a one-month visit to India.
  • The e-Business visa – is a multiple-entry document allowing for a total stay of six months and enabling all business-related travels.
  • The e-Medical visa – is a triple-entry permit enabling a total of two months of stay in India made for medical purposes.
  • A One-Year visa – is a multiple-entry tourist visa allowing for numerous visits to this country over a period of one year.
  • A Five-Year visa – allows for many 3-month long visits to India over a period of five years. The travel may relate to leisure, including going on vacation, making family and friends visits, and more.

The five-year multiple-entry eVisa for India allows citizens from the USA and Japan to visit for up to six months each time.

How to submit an application for the India eVisa

Once you have selected your preferred India eVisa type, you can start preparing the online application process. The requirements to meet are minimal but may differ depending on the selected eVisa type.

The required documents needed to support one’s application differ depending on the selected India eVisa type.

For tourist visa prepare:
  • A passport with a minimum validity of six months
  • A clear photo of the applicant’s face

For business visa prepare additionally:
  • A letter of invitation or a business card of the company you plan on visiting in India

For medical visa prepare additionally:

What happens after applying

After applying for the India eVisa, the processing procedure will start. The Indian Government will review your application and supporting documents to make sure everything’s in order.

This process can take up to 72 hours; thus, make sure to submit your application no later than 3 business days of the planned departure.

The approved travel authorization is then delivered to travellers via email in PDF form and should be printed before departure to be presented upon arrival in India in paper form along with the traveller’s valid passport.
